6 Bridges Gallery is pleased to present “Conversations in Clay” – ceramic sculpture by Tracy Fischer, Mary Morazzi-Henderson, Alison Lauriat, Molly Nye, Gloria Ross and Laura Zimmerman. The exhibit will run January 24 – February 25, 2017 at 6 Bridges Gallery, 77 Main Street, Maynard. A reception will be held on Sunday, January 29,  2:00 – 4:00pm. (Snow Date: Sunday, February 12, 3:00 – 5:00pm)

A group of six artists gathered by chance five years ago in the ceramics studio at the DeCordova Museum. Using various sculptural techniques, glazes, stains and paints, each ceramicist set upon her own path. And yet, working alongside each other, their pieces developed a conversation of their own that embraces the organic nature and texture of clay through form, color and whimsy.

Tracy Fischer’s biomorphic sculptures utilize patterns and shapes to evoke objects found in nature. Mary Morazzi-Henderson has discovered joy in an intuitive approach to creating organic sculptural forms. Alison Lauriat is intrigued by the transient nature of mushrooms as a metaphor for the fragility of life. Molly Nye has integrated her figurative sculptures into the ubiquitous historic stone walls of New England. In Gloria Ross’s paintings, she creates texture and shows the process and history of the work; these elements have found their way into her ceramic pieces. Laura Zimmerman draws on the symbolism, dreams and narrative of her prior career as a Jungian psychotherapist to inform her work.

We welcome you to eavesdrop on the conversation.

6 Bridges Gallery was established in 2014 by a group of artists to create a retail and display gallery in the heart of downtown Maynard, Massachusetts. The ever-changing work in our gallery includes a diverse range of media and artistic styles. All of our artisans are local; many – including our founding members – are residents of the ArtSpace Maynard studios. Our gallery is owned and operated by our artists, so there is a unique opportunity to meet one or more of them on any given day.
