The Maynard Honeybee Meadow Project hopes to establish a working beehive and wildflower meadow garden in our community, and therefore help to increase the number of precious pollinators in the area. Our goal is to create a bee sanctuary, educate people about threats to honeybees, and create a beautiful, wild green space for people to visit. The meadow’s little library will provide visitors with opportunities to borrow books about bees and beekeeping, while our benches will give people an opportunity to relax and be inspired.
Not only will this project support a small bee population, it will create some valuable green space in a town whose mill history has made its town center densely developed. But we need support and thanks to a matching grant program, every dollar donated will go twice as far – but only if we reach our goal of $6500 by November 15, 2016.
